Before Your Baby Arrives

One of the best ways to prepare for your new arrival is by attending our complimentary Baby Basics Class.

Led by our pediatricians and lactation consultants, these classes help expecting parents understand what to expect before, during, and after delivery. You’ll learn about newborn care, feeding, your baby’s first year, and what makes Anderson Hills Pediatrics different. Most importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and meet the team that may soon be caring for your child.

Your Baby’s First Days

Once your baby is born, simply call our office at (513) 232-8100. Our New Patient & Medical Records team will schedule your baby’s first appointment with one of our pediatricians and coordinate receiving your baby’s hospital records, so everything is in place before your first visit.

Your newborn’s first appointment is typically scheduled within the first few days after leaving the hospital. During this visit, we’ll:

• Check your baby’s weight and growth
• Evaluate feeding and hydration
• Screen for jaundice
• Review newborn screening results
• Discuss safe sleep and newborn care
• Screen mothers for postpartum depression and anxiety using the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale
• Answer your questions and provide guidance for the weeks ahead

Because protecting your newborn is our priority, we schedule newborn appointments during dedicated times of the day to help minimize exposure to illness while their immune system is still developing.

Breastfeeding & Lactation Support

Every family is different, and every feeding journey is unique. At Anderson Hills Pediatrics, our goal is simple: to help your baby grow, thrive, and be well nourished. Whether you choose to breastfeed, formula feed, exclusively pump, or use a combination of feeding methods, you’ll receive compassionate, evidence-based guidance without judgment.

For families who choose to breastfeed, our International Board Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) provide expert support with:

• Latch and positioning
• Milk supply concerns
• Pumping and returning to work
• Bottle introduction
• Combination feeding
• Feeding challenges and weight gain

Our lactation consultants work closely with your pediatrician, allowing your baby’s feeding plan and medical care to be coordinated in one place.
