Motivational interviewing

Motivational interviewing is a kind of counseling that encourages behavior change by helping a person resolve mixed feelings.

A counselor helps a person explore his or her mixed feelings about quitting a harmful behavior, such as drug use or heavy alcohol use. The person is encouraged to find personal motivation to change the behavior.
