About Dr. Petra Hackenberg-Bauer:
Dr. Hackenberg-Bauer was born in Germany and moved to the United States with her parents and younger brother at the age of 15. She first lived in Massachusetts before relocating to Dayton, Ohio, where she graduated from high school. She then attended the University of Dayton and Wright State University School of Medicine. Following medical school, she moved to Cincinnati to complete her pediatric residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital and Medical Center and joined Anderson Hills Pediatrics in 1994.
Dr. Hackenberg-Bauer and her husband have raised a son and a daughter and are actively involved in their community. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, hiking, and gardening. She is also a dedicated UD Flyers fan.
Her professional interests include promoting a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition, regular exercise, proper sleep, and mental well-being. She has a particular focus on addressing disordered eating in older children and adolescents, as well as mental health. As a native German speaker, she has been able to assist many families in navigating healthcare in a foreign country.
Dr. Hackenberg-Bauer is passionate about caring for her patients from birth to adulthood and values the relationships she has built with their parents.
“The best part of pediatrics is being part of a child’s journey from infancy to adulthood; it is an incredible honor and a significant responsibility. My own children are the most important part of my life, and I never take for granted the immense trust that parents place in me.”
